The City of Kitchener has announced a public meeting on the rapid transit proposal will be held on May 26.

Residents and business owners are invited to the 6 p.m. meeting at city hall to discuss Waterloo Region's rapid transit proposal and the impact it will have on the city.

As their top choice, the region's staff have recommended a system that includes light rail transit from Conestoga Mall to Fairview Park Mall and adapted bus rapid transit from there to the Ainslie Street Transit Terminal in Cambridge.

Regional public input meetings are being held on May 31 and June 1 at 6 p.m. in regional council chambers.

The region is expected to make a final decision on the transit plan on June 15.
