Five bidders have been shortlisted as finalists for the expansion of Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
Infrastructure Ontario and the hospital announced the shortlist in a Monday morning press release.
The five companies still in the running are Bondfield Construction Company, EllisDon Capital, Graham Construction and Engineering, PCL Constructors Canada and WCC Construction Canada.
“This is an exciting day for our hospital and our community,” hospital president Patrick Gaskin said in the release.
“I am thrilled our detailed concepts are being shared with construction experts – one of whom will help us realize our vision for a completely transformed and modern hospital for Cambridge and North Dumfries.”
It will see a new wing built on the hospital to handle acute care services, including a surgical suite, birthing suite, emergency department, pediatric and mental health units, a medical education campus and other services.
The winning bidder is expected to be announced next summer, with construction starting around the same time.
The project is expected to cost between $150 million and $200 million.
