The cold weather didn't stop hundreds of people from celebrating earth day celebrations.

While the environmental awareness day actually falls on Monday, many people got out Saturday to interact with nature and help clean up some local parks.

Those who did make it out today chose to bundle up and forge ahead. With bags in hand and eyes peeled for trash more than a hundred people scoured McLennan Park in Kitchener to do their part to clean up.

Among the more than 90 bags collected from the park, there were some interesting finds.

Isabella Brown found a big tire, some shoes and cups.  Emma, Amelia and Howey found an old TV and a shovel and carpet, last year they even found a mattress.

However, the cold temperatures didn't make hunting easy. "Your hands are freezing if you didn't bring mittens" "It's still really cold out and i wish i'd broughten warmer pants" say 12 year old Emmal and Amelia.

So cold, others planning a similar clean up at the University Downs Park decided to postpone, until mother nature decides to cooperate.
