A Cambridge girl is battling cancer again, more than a year after receiving a stem cell transplant.

6-year-old Katie Star Herron was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia four years ago.

Last March doctors found her a stem cell match.

Now, 13 months after the procedure her family tells CTV News Katie’s cancer has returned.

In a statement to CTV News, Katie’s mother Anne Hodgkinson says she is heartbroken.

“We are just devastated and are trying to come to terms with this and get back into fight mode,” Hodgkinson said.

Katie and her family are discussing options with doctors and are going to the United States for treatment. The family has set up a Go Fund Me page to help cover those costs. You can find it here.
