Police believe an armed robbery in Brantford is likely connected to similar holdups in Guelph and Toronto.
Shortly before 9:00 Monday evening, two men entered a Rogers Plus store on King George Road in Brantford.
Two employees were ordered to the back of the store by the suspects, one of whom was in possession of a handgun.
The two suspects stole a large quantity of cell phones and then left the store.
Christiana McGrandles works in a nearby store. She says she saw police cruisers come in from all directions after the robbery.
“The front door looked like it was smashed open and police were checking on the scene,” she says.
Similar robberies were reported in Toronto and Guelph in December. Significant amounts of cell phones were taken in those incidents as well, and the suspect descriptions all match up.
“Our detectives … have already been in contact with surrounding jurisdictions,” says Brantford Police spokesperson Const. Natalie Laing
No employees were injured in the incident.
