Brantford Police are investigating after someone reported finding a body in the Grand River near a public access area on Ballantyne Drive near Spalding Avenue.

The call came in Monday morning shortly before 10:30 a.m., and homicide investigators have since cordoned off the area and continue to search for evidence.

The identity of the deceased is not yet known, but he is described as a black male in his early 20s.

Obvious signs of trauma to the body have led investigators to treat the case as a homicide.

Ballantyne Drive has been closed to traffic at Spalding Drive.
