Police have issued a new appeal for anyone who knew Frederick John Hatch to get in touch with them.

Hatch, a 65-year-old man with no fixed address who was known to hitchhike, was found dead earlier this month in a wooded area east of the Erin town centre.

Wellington County OPP have said that they consider his death to be a homicide, but have not released details on his cause of death.

It’s believed Hatch travelled to Erin from eastern Ontario, taking Highway 7 at the tail end of his route, and arrived in the area either on the night of Dec. 16 or in the first few hours of Dec. 17.

During the morning of Dec. 17, his body was found by firefighters responding to a call for a small brush fire along Wellington Road 24, near the 10th Line.

Police say they want anyone who “may have seen or had contact with Hatch” or has information that could be connected to his death to call their dedicated tip line at 1-844-677-5010.
