Police say they now know the name of the man found dead in a wooded area outside Erin last week.
The man was identified Monday as Frederick John Hatch, a 65-year-old with no fixed address.
According to the Wellington County OPP, Hatch is believed to have travelled to Erin from eastern Ontario last Wednesday – arriving in the area either late Wednesday or early Thursday morning.
His death has been deemed a homicide, although it remains unclear what happened between his arrival in Erin and the discovery of his body by firefighters responding to a call for a small brush fire along Wellington Road 24, near the 10th Line.
Police say they’ve attempted to contact Hatch’s next of kin with no success, and are now asking anyone who knew Hatch to contact them.
