Details are emerging about the man’s body that was found outside the Erin town centre early Thursday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police are treating the discovery of the body as a homicide.
The body of a 65-year-old man was found in a wooded area off of Wellington Road 124 in Erin. The body was found by firefighters, who were called to the area to deal with a small brush fire.
On Friday, police would not release the man’s home or hometown or anything about the circumstances of his death.
The victim’s identity came known to police late Friday night. The man does not live in southern Ontario. His identity is being withheld pending notification next of kin.
Police believe the victim travelled from eastern Ontario on Wednesday and arrived near Erin later that day or early Thursday morning.
The victim is described as a white man, 5’6”, heavier build, shoulder length grey hair, wearing a dark coloured hoodie and blue jeans.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
