Each municipality sets its own rules to facilitate clearing of roads and sidewalks. Here’s a city-by-city look at some of the local restrictions.

Cambridge

  • A snow event is in place until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday
  • Cars left on city streets may be ticketed $80 and towed at their owners’ expense
  • Home and business owners must clear snow from their sidewalks within 36 hours of the last snowfall
  • Homes normally receiving Monday waste collection will instead see their waste collected on Saturday

Guelph

  • City crews began plowing streets and sidewalks at 8 a.m. Monday
  • Home and business owners are not responsible for clearing their own sidewalks
  • Plowing and cleanup efforts are expected to continue into midweek
  • Waste collection is taking place Monday; residents are asked to put carts 5-6 feet back from the mouth of the driveway to allow room for plows
  • If waste is not picked up Monday, it will be on Tuesday
  • Parked cars should be moved off the street when possible

Kitchener

  • A snow event is in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday
  • On-street parking is banned until that time
  • Vehicles parked on city streets are risking an $80 ticket and being towed at their owners’ expense
  • If you think your car has been towed, call 519-741-2345 for information on where it was taken
  • Home and business owners must clear their sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of snowfall
  • Plows were on the road at 3 a.m. Monday
  • Homes normally receiving Monday waste collection will instead see their waste collected on Saturday
