Waterloo Regional Police say shortly after 2:00 a.m. a fight broke out, outside of the Brixton nightclub on University Avenue West, in Waterloo.

According to witnesses, a fight broke out in front of the club and a male produced a knife during the fight.

The accused and two friends were getting into a car to leave when police arrived and stopped them from leaving.  

As police conducted their investigation a large group of people came from inside the bar and attempted to interfere by shouting and hurling insults at the officers.

Police say people in the group also began recording the incident on their cell phones, coming within inches of the officer’s faces.

A total of eleven additional officers were called in for crowd control.

A 19-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with weapons dangerous to the public peace and he was held for a show cause hearing.
