An investigation into the sex trade led Waterloo Regional Police officers to arrest two Brampton men.

Police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel said officers in the area of Ottawa Street and River Road in Kitchener learned of information; police then attended a Weber Street East motel and made the arrests around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Both men are charged with exercising control over a person engaging in prostitution in relation to a 22-year-old woman.

“Arrangements had been made that the woman be brought from Brampton to Kitchener to participate in the sex trade,” Heinzel said.

“The victim at one point feared for her safety, however she was not injured.”

Charged are 20-year-old Joseph Campbell and 18-year-old DeShawn Chin, both of whom made court appearances Tuesday.

Police continue to investigate.
