For two days in the middle of June, our coverage area will be a hotbed of Pan Am Games festivities.

After spending time in London and other parts of southwestern Ontario, the torch relay will make six local stops on Thursday, June 18.

While the exact route and details of each stop event aren’t yet known, that day will see festivities at Ingersoll Town Hall, the Woodstock District Community Complex, Lower Queen’s Park in Stratford, the Queen’s Park Centre in Tavistock, Waterloo Town Square and Kitchener’s Carl Zehr Square.

Another event will be held in Kitchener on Friday, June 19 – this one at TheMuseum.

That day will also see the torch relay pass through Cambridge Civic Square and Brantford’s Harmony Square before heading to Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.

Overall, the torch relay will stop in more than 130 Ontario communities during its 41-day run.

The tour will feature approximately 3,000 torch bearers, and also include non-Ontario stops in Halifax, Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary and Richmond, B.C.

The relay begins May 30 in Toronto.

It ends July 10, when the cauldron is lit at the Games opening ceremony.

A separate relay will be held for the Parapan Am Games, which begin on Aug. 7.
