A father and son from St. Clements are charged with second-degree murder in an incident which left a car upside-down on King Street in downtown Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police say the series of events began with an altercation between 38-year-old Anton Radisic and the two men on Harold Avenue, in the Weber Street and Fergus Avenue area of Kitchener, shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Radisic was allegedly stabbed during the altercation, then proceeded to leave the area in his car.

Minutes later, he was seen driving erratically on King Street, hitting a curb and rolling his vehicle.

He died in hospital of injuries he received in the stabbing.

Eighteen-year-old Martin McNaney and his 44-year-old father Stephen McNaney were arrested Sunday and charged with second-degree murder.

Police say it’s not clear how they knew Radisic or whether the attack was targeted.

“We are continuing to investigate the relationship between the parties, but it would be premature for me to speculate at this time,” says Staff Sgt. Shaena Morris.

The two accused made brief court appearances Monday morning and will do so again on Thursday.

Nicholas Wansbutter, who is representing Stephen McNaney, says it may be difficult for both men to apply for bail given they would be drawing on the same people and resources to do so.

“That may affect the decision in this case,” he tells CTV News.
