Multiple schools in Woodstock were placed in hold-and-secure situations Monday morning as police searched for a man.

The hold-and-secures began around 10 a.m.

According to Woodstock Police, there were no concerns for public safety, and the decision to enact the security procedure was done to minimize the number of people and vehicles in the area as police searched.

The affected area was generally around Southside Park, including Finkle, Dover and Water streets.

Police say they were looking for the man to check on his well-being.

He was found shortly after 11 a.m., and activity at the schools then went back to normal.

A hold-and-secure is a procedure under which nobody is allowed to enter or leave a school building. It is less serious than a lockdown, in which movement within the building is also forbidden.
