Waterloo Regional Police are investigating the robbery of a taxi driver in Waterloo’s south end.

Police say two men approached the driver while he was picking up a customer on Union Street East, shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday.

The duo allegedly pointed an object resembling a handgun – it’s not clear if it was an actual gun – at the driver in an attempt to conduct a robbery.

They were then “scared off” and left the area without the driver turning over any cash.

Police say both men were last seen running down Union Street in the direction of Lucan Avenue.
