Provincial police say they have recovered the body of Zach Sutherland.

Sutherland, a fourth-year commerce student at the University of Guelph, was the occupant of one of two canoes found empty in the Credit River near Caledon on Sunday.

The other kayak was being paddled by his girlfriend, Kaya Firth, who also attended Guelph.

Police began searching the river Sunday, after learning of the empty canoes, which is when they found Firth’s remains.

The search for Sutherland continued through Monday and into Tuesday, with a helicopter brought in to aid the effort.
