Approximately 20 demonstrators remained at an Enbridge pipeline worksite in Oxford County as of Wednesday morning.

The ‘Dam Line 9’ group of protestors first took over the Innerkip-area site on Tuesday, stopping a valve shutoff installation Enbridge crews were planning on doing.

They cited concerns about the possibility of an oil spill affecting the nearby Thames River and the age and condition of the pipeline as two of their concerns.

Some of the protestors were members of a group that spent several days last month at another section of Line 9, off Highway 24 south of Cambridge.

Police said Tuesday night that it was unlikely the demonstrators would be arrested for trespassing provided they remained peaceful.
