Police are searching for a suspect following the sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman in Brantford early Friday morning.
Brantford Police say the woman was alone shortly after midnight, having parked her car in a driveway on Dalhousie Street, between Alfred Street and Park Avenue just east of downtown, at the time of the attack.
According to police, the woman exited her car and closed the door before being grabbed from behind.
“A person approached her from behind and forcefully pushed her head against the vehicle,” Const. Natalie Laing tells CTV News.
The woman was knocked out by the force of the attack. When she awoke a short time later, she was on the ground, partially clothed.
She went into a nearby residence to call 911, and was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Police do not have a description of the suspect, and a canine track did not turn up any clues.
Although the woman was holding her purse and cellphone at the time of the attack, neither were taken.
Anyone who was in the area between midnight and 1 a.m. or anyone else with information is asked to contact police at 519-756-7050 ext. 2270 or Crime Stoppers at 519-750-8477.
“If they were driving by on Dalhousie Street, if they were walking their dog, if they were visiting a residence that was in the area … call us,” Laing says.
