The lawyer for Ron Cyr is accusing the other two men charged in the Nadia Gehl case with working together to hide the murder weapon.
Cyr, Nashat Qahwash and Zdenek ‘Dennis' Zvolensky are charged with first degree murder in the February 2009 shooting death of Cyr's wife Nadia Gehl.
In a Hamilton court on Friday, Cyr's lawyer suggested Qahwash and Zvolensky worked together to hide the murder weapon.
Police found the gun in the ceiling of a basement closet at the home where Qahwash was living. It had Qahwash's print on the bag and Zvolensky's DNA on the gun grip.
Qahwash has claimed Zvolensky gave him the gun to hide after telling him he had shot Gehl at Cyr's request.
But on Thursday Zvolensky told the court Qahwash gave him the firearm the morning of the murder and asked him to hold on to it.
Both defendants have denied they were the gunman and pointed the finger at each other.
Cyr's lawyer also suggested that on the day Cyr was arrested, Aug. 9, 2009, Qahwash and Zvolensky headed straight to an apartment building on Morgan Avenue in Kitchener and retrieved the hidden murder weapon and together took it to Qahwash's home.
Still on the stand, Zvolensky denied those claims, but about two hours later, Zvolensky and Qahwash were arrested outside that home.
