Police are asking the public for help identifying a man sought in connection with the robbery of a grocery store in Ingersoll.
According to Oxford County OPP, the robbery occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday at The Independent Grocery on King Street West.
A man allegedly left the store without paying for the items in his cart.
Employees of the supermarket were able to catch up to him in the parking lot.
When they asked him to go back inside and pay for his groceries, police say, the man pulled out a knife and threatened them.
He then got into a vehicle and drove away, allegedly hitting a parked vehicle in the process.
The licence plates on the car were later found to have been stolen earlier in the day.
Police describe the man as white, 5’10” tall and in his mid-20s, with a slim build, short brown hair and brown facial hair.
He was seen wearing a grey and brown ‘John Deere’ T-shirt, brown, plaid patterned shorts, and white running shoes.
His vehicle is described as a grey or silver family van of an older model, possibly with tinted rear windows. It may have the licence plant BRNH 420, and may have damage to its passenger-side rear wheel well.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
