One woman remained in critical condition Tuesday following a fire at a home in Fergus the previous night.

The fire brought crews from Fergus and Elora to Union Street West, near Tower Street, around 4 p.m. Monday.

They found a 65-year-old woman inside the home. She was taken to hospital.

A firefighter was also taken to hospital for heat exhaustion. He was later released from care.

Investigators say the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Police and the Office of the Fire Marshal were back on-scene Tuesday, looking into the origins of the fire.
