Human remains found outside Kate Lynn Reid’s apartment are those of the alleged murder victim, Waterloo Regional Police say.
An autopsy took place Wednesday in Hamilton on the remains, which were found outside Reid’s apartment building on Burn Place in Kitchener last week.
According to police, the autopsy also provided further evidence that Reid was killed – although what specifically causes them to believe that is being kept under wraps.
Hugh McColl, the 52-year-old’s roommate, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death.
He remains in custody, and made a brief court appearance Wednesday.
Reid was reported missing in late January, several weeks after she was last seen.
