Police are once again investigating an apartment fire that killed two people in 2011.
On March 27, 2011, an explosion and fire ripped through a 45-unit apartment building on Wellington Street in Woodstock, displacing nearly 100 people.
The bodies of Margaret Gillett, 73, and Bill Watmough, 79, were found buried in rubble several days later.
At the time, police said they did not suspect criminal activity to be behind the fire, which left nearly 100 people homeless for almost a year.
The investigation was passed to forensic officers with the Office of the Fire Marshal, who have now handed the file back to Woodstock police.
Neither group will say what has been discovered thus far.
Shortly after the fire, investigators said they were focusing their investigation on a utility room in the centre of the building.
Woodstock Police Chief Rod Freeman tells CTV the police service will closely examine the fire marshal’s report and then share any findings with affected residents.
