Waterloo Region police have arrested a 35-year-old man after reports a man with a gun had threatened a woman Monday morning.
Police were called to an apartment building in the Garden and Lawrence Streets area of Cambridge around 10 a.m.
Heavily armed officers closed off the area and evacuated the residents of a nearby apartment building as a precaution.
Negotiators tried to speak to the suspect by phone, but they weren’t making any progress so they tried a different approach.
Waterloo Regional Police Insp. Kevin Thaler says “Emergency Response Units who were doing containment did a door knock. The man answered the door and was compliant. He was taken into custody and recovered was a pellet pistol.”
The suspect is now facing assault and weapons charges as well as uttering death threats.
No one was injured in the incident.
