The Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks erupted for five goals in the opening twelve minutes and went on to crush the Ajax Rock 17-9 in their MSL season opener.

The game was never in doubt as the Kodiaks led 5-1 after the opening period and 8-2 by the midway point of the second frame.

Brendan Thenhaus led K-W with four goals and two assists, while Brandon Ivey chipped in with three goals and one assist. Adam McGourty scored twice.

Jesse Guerin led the visiting Rock with three goals and three assists.

The Kodiaks are now off until Tuesday, June 5th when they visit Brampton. K-W's next home game is Tuesday, June 12th against Peterborough.
