Police have released security images of a man and woman sought in connection with a distraction theft at a New Hamburg grocery store.

Around 4 p.m. on Aug. 18, an elderly woman had her wallet stolen from her purse, which was in the top of her grocery cart, while shopping in New Hamburg.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service believes the pair were attempting distraction thefts and say that other shoppers reported being crowded.

People are reminded to keep a close eye on their valuables while shopping.
