Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak abruptly cancelled appearances in Guelph and Kitchener Monday amid news his daughter has been admitted to hospital.
In a written statement Hudak says "On behalf of my wife Debbie, I want to express our appreciation for the concern expressed for our daughter Miller."
Miller, who was born in 2007, was recently admitted to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where she is receiving medical care.
Hudak also says his family is grateful for all the well wishes and that he and his family "Truly appreciate that we continue to be given our privacy during this time."
On the weekend, Hudak also unexpectedly left an event in his home riding of Niagara West-Glanbrook.
There is also word the congregation of his hometown church in Fort Erie was publicly asked to keep the family in their prayers on the weekend.
No additional details have been released on the condition of the three-year-old.
