Hamilton Police say they're investigating the city's fifth homicide of 2016.
Detectives were called in late Friday afternoon after police officers responding to a 911 call at a local residence found a man in his 40's suffering from obvious injuries.
Police say paramedics treated the victim at the scene before he was taken to Hamilton General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Detectives are in the process of notifying next of kin and no further details regarding the victim are being released at this time.
Police, however, say they are confident there is no further risk to the general public.
