Police are on the hunt for a shooter after multiple gunshots were fired in the Pioneer Park area of Kitchener overnight.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a townhouse on Doon Village Rd. just before 3 a.m. Saturday.
Police said there was a gathering that turned sour, and a short time later, shots were fired. But, police said the bullet did not find its intended target, hitting the home next door instead.
No one was hurt, according to police spokesperson Cherri Greeno.
Word of the shooting was unnerving for those who live nearby.
“Someone obviously had no value for human life if they are firing a gun off in this area,” said resident Brandon Reynolds.
He said his mother heard something that sounded like a gunshot in the early morning and when the family woke up, the street was cordoned off with yellow police tape.
Police said they did not have any suspects and no arrests had been made.
“We do have a number of criminal investigators who are working on this,” said Insp. Dave Bishop. “We obviously take this very seriously when there is this type of public risk.”
