Grain Farmers of Ontario has launched legal action against the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change over the government's neonic-treated seed regulations.

Chairman Mark Brock sys they believe it is critical the regulations be thoroughly reviewed by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

GFO is asking the court to delay implementation of the proposed regulations until May 1, 2016, or such time as the requirements of the regulation can reasonably be met.

The new regulations reduce the number of acres planted with corn and soybean seeds coated with neonicotinoids, which the province says are highly toxic to bees.
