Some minor tweaks haven't been enough to change Grain Farmers of Ontario's stand on provincial neonic-treated seed regulations.

Chairman Mark Brock calls the regulations a one-off approach that will not benefit pollinator health and will hurt 28,000 Ontario farmers.

The new regulations reduce the number of acres planted with corn and soybean seeds coated with neonicotinoids, which the province says are highly toxic to bees.

Virtually 100 per cent of corn seeds and about 60 per cent of soybean seeds planted in Ontario are treated with neonicotinoids, figures the province wants to reduce by 80 per cent in just two years
