As of Monday, there were 146 properties in Guelph without running water.
While that number is up significantly from even one week before, city officials say they’ve now been in contact with everyone in the city dealing with frozen pipes, and will be able to respond to future calls within 24 hours.
“Our first priority is to make sure people have clean water for drinking and cooking,” Peter Bussato, the city’s general manager of water services, said in a press release.
“It’s no small thing to go without running water, and we appreciate people’s perseverance.”
Affected residents have been given gift cards for local grocery stores, as well as free access to showers at community centres.
In the city’s downtown, activity at the corner of Wyndham and Quebec streets will be disrupted Tuesday morning as crews perform emergency repairs to underground water pipes.
