Food banks across southwestern Ontario need more donations this Thanksgiving weekend.
The Food Bank of Waterloo Region says they are well below their collection goal. Food banks in Toronto, London, and Guelph are also in need of help. Guelph, for example, has only reached half of their collection goal and the London organization is short by a thousand kilograms of food.
The Food Bank of Waterloo Region is hoping to receive more donations during Monday's Thanksgiving Parade.
Food bank services say they have seen more people using their services because of they haven't recovered from recession job losses.
The food banks say they need canned food like meat, beans, vegetables and fruit.
