Fire at New Hamburg pet food plant not suspicious

The fire that destroyed a New Hamburg business is not considered suspicious, Waterloo Regional Police say.

The fire occurred Saturday afternoon at the Eurocan pet food manufacturing plant.

Firefighters spent several hours at the scene, dealing with thick smoke and intense flames which left the building destroyed.

Investigators with the Office of the Fire Marshal stayed on-site until Monday evening, examining the remains of the plant.
