A restaurant in uptown Waterloo was evacuated Sunday evening due to fire.
Crews were called to the Empress of India on King Street around 7:30 p.m.
Officials with Waterloo Fire say the fire began in the oven range hood before spreading to the building’s roof.
A hole was then cut in the roof to assist firefighters in dousing the flames.
Damage is estimated at $25,000.
The restaurant will be able to reopen, although it will have to pass a public health inspection before that can happen.
