Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) has announced they have had a total of seven patients with C. difficile this month and one related death.
Three patients remain in hospital while three were discharged. Five of the cases were reportedly hospital-acquired.
In a press release, Susan Gregoroff, vice president of clinical programs and chief nursing executive at CMH, said "These cases appear to be unrelated and together with the Public Health unit, we are closely monitoring these patients. What is encouraging is that it shows our current practices and efforts seem to be preventing the spread of the disease."
According to the hospital, increased cleaning procedures remain in place to help prevent further infection.
