St. Agatha Catholic Elementary School faces the threat of closure once again.

Just two years after parents succeeded in keeping the school open, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board has voted to begin a review process that could shut its doors.

The board cites low enrollment and the fact that the Ministry of Education has turned down its request for funding to make necessary upgrades as reasons for the review.

Fewer than 100 students attend the school.

The review will take nine months to complete and will include public consultations.

Staff recommends closing St. Agatha School and moving the students to Holy Rosary in September 2017.
