Baden woman’s death being investigated as homicide
The death of an 88-year-old woman in Wilmot Township is now being investigated as a homicide.
Police launched a suspicious death investigation earlier this week after a woman was found dead inside her Baden home.
On Wednesday, police confirmed the victim’s identity as Viola Erb and said her death is now being treated as a homicide.
“We are working very diligently to figure out exactly what took place and make an arrest in this matter,” said WRPS public information officer Const. Andre Johnson.
According to police, emergency services responded to a medical call on Saturday at Sandhills Road in Baden around 1:20 p.m.
When crews arrived, a woman was found dead.
“As the result of the investigation to date, members of our major crime unit, as well as the coroner's office, has determined that this suspicious death was, in fact, a homicide,” said Johnson.
Police said they can’t speak to any suspects or arrests, but said there is no concern for public safety.
“However long, or whatever the investigation takes us is what we’ll do. Our investigators are working very diligently to process the scene, gather information to figure out exactly what happened,” said Johnson.

In a statement, the Wilmot Mayor Les Armstrong, said the township is deeply saddened by news of Erb’s death.
“Viola Erb has been a significant contributor to the Wilmot community,” Armstrong said, adding she leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, humility, and community service.
