An American company with Canadian ties is laying off 200 people across its operations, including 24 working out of Cambridge.
Babcock and Wilcox announced the layoffs Tuesday.
The company blamed several factors, including decreased coal-related revenue and delays from an oil sands project due to the Fort McMurray fire, and said the layoffs were only one of multiple cost-savings measures it would undertake.
In 2012, 90 members of the company’s Cambridge plant were laid off. At the time, that number represented 30 per cent of its total workforce in the city.
