Waterloo Regional Police are asking for the public’s help after two separate incidents at different Little Short Stop locations.

The first incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. at a store on Saginaw Parkway in Cambridge.

Officials say two masked men attempted to steal an employee’s purse as she got into her car.

Witnesses saw the woman struggling with the two men and rushed to help.

The suspects then fled toward the rear of the plaza, where one of the men was caught and detained by a bystander.

The 18-year-old Cambridge man has been charged with robbery, disguise with intent and breach of probation.

The other suspect was last seen running into a townhouse at 99 Saginaw Parkway. He’s described as 5 foot 10, 160 pounds and wearing a grey hoodie.

About six hours later, police were called to a separate incident at a Little Short Stop on Stirling Avenue South in Kitchener.

Officials say a man brandishing a knife demanded money from a clerk.

The employee refused and told the man to leave.

He fled on a dark bike, last seen on St. Clair Avenue.

The suspect is described as white, in his mid-20s with dark brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark green over-sized windbreaker jacket with black on the shoulders.

Anyone with information about the two incidents or the suspects is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
