Two suffering serious injuries following assault in Cambridge

Two people are suffering serious injuries following an early morning assault in Cambridge, according to Waterloo Regional Police.

Officers responded to the area of Water Street North and Dickson Street around 2 a.m. Sunday after a 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were assaulted.

“During the investigation, officers learned that the male and female were in a verbal altercation with an unknown male,” police said in a media release. “During the altercation, the unknown male assaulted both, resulting in serious physical injuries.”

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6’0, with blonde hair, and wearing a dark sweater with a red baseball cap. They were last seen on foot in the area of Ainslie Street.

The General Investigations Unit is seeking assistance in identifying the suspect involved in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777.
