Three teens have been arrested and charged after they tried to steal Christmas gifts.

The incident began at about 11 p.m. on Monday night in Cambridge. Pamela Green says that's when her children's presents were stolen from her van.

Luckily, her neighbor noticed the teens in Pamela's driveway and called Pamela and police immediately. Pamela got into their van and started driving around the neighborhood. They spotted the young thieves in a nearby park, who were still carrying the presents.

Police say the teens ran away, but didn't get very far. "We brought in a canine unit in. We were able to track the young fellows and eventually were able locate them at another location and make the arrest," says Olaf Heinzel, spokesperson for Waterloo Regional Police Services.

The presents are being held as evidence for now. But soon Pamela will be able to get them back. She is now warning others about what can happen.

"Just keep your vehicles locked now. I know I will from know on."
