The truck is out, but the work continues.

As of Thursday afternoon, seven properties along Strasburg Road remained without water due to a main break that occurred early Wednesday morning.

It was about 90 minutes after the main broke, as water was gushing onto the street, that a truck towing a trailer fell into a sinkhole caused by the break.

The two people in the truck were able to get to safety by climbing out the vehicle’s windows and onto its roof.

After about eight hours, the truck itself was hoisted out of the hole and crews turned their attention to restoring the water service.

As the break was being repaired, a second, smaller break was discovered nearby.

That second break caused seven properties to remain without water into Thursday, with restoration expected to happen by 9 p.m.

Strasburg Road itself isn’t expected to reopen to traffic between Battler Road and Trillium Drive until 8 p.m. Friday.
