The man who robbed a Kitchener bank on Tuesday claimed to have a weapon, Waterloo Regional Police say.

Around 3:15 p.m., a man walked into the Bank of Montreal branch on Highland Road and allegedly passed a note indicating he had a weapon and demanding money to the teller.

According to police, the man got away on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Canine units were brought in to track him down, but were unsuccessful.

Police describe the robber as approximately 40 years old and 5’5” with an average build.

He was wearing a grey newsboy-style hat, dark sunglasses, a beige scar, a black jacket, baseball batting gloves and jeans.

No injuries were reported and no weapon was ever seen.
