The minister of children and youth services says parents angered by the province's changes to autism treatment can expect specifics very shortly on how the government is rethinking its plans.

The government decided to stop funding so-called intensive behavioural intervention for kids five and older, instead moving them to "enhanced applied behavioural analysis" treatment.

Parents of more than 800 children removed from the wait list have been given eight-thousand dollars to pay for private treatment but they say that will only pay for a few months of intensive therapy.

Children and Youth Services Minister Tracy MacCharles says the government is looking at its options, whether that means providing more funding to those parents or other services.
