Waterloo Regional Police are searching for a 15-year-old girl that was last seen on March 8, 2016.

Genevieve Catala was last seen at the Cambridge Centre Mall around 7:00 p.m. pm on Tuesday.

“We are concerned for her safety,” said Julie Catala, Genevieve’s mother.

“The police are looking for her… she was seen in Kitchener at night in places that are not very good for her (or) very safe for her but at this point we don’t have much news from the police.”

She is described as a white female, 5’2” in height, 100 lbs, brown eyes with shoulder length strawberry blonde hair.

She wears glasses to read and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, white boots and carrying a multi-coloured ‘VANS’ back pack.

On Saturday morning a number of her family and friends put up flyers around the region in hopes of people recognizing her.

This isn’t the first time that Genevieve has gone missing, but according to her mom this is the longest she has gone without contacting her.

“This time we feel more of an urgency because she is hanging out with people we don’t know. We know a little bit (about) their background but it’s nothing reassuring so we are definitely concerned,” said Catala.

Her mother describes Genevieve as very caring, the type of person that will put others needs before her own and that she will put her own safety at risk to help others.

Friends and family of Genevieve are hoping to at least make contact with the teen. She does not have a cell phone but does have a laptop and access to social media although she has not been replying to messages.

Catala has this message for her daughter: “Please come home or contact us and let us know that you are safe.”

Police are asking anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Genevieve Catala to please contact them at 519-653-7700 ext. 2299.
