Police have issued a warning for a Woodstock neighbourhood.

A dog, known for its vicious attacks on other animals, lives near Brompton Park and they say it’s only a matter of time before it kills again.

The dog is a tan-coloured black mouth cur – a type of dog bred for hunting – named Angel.

It attacked an Australian Shephard on April 13.

“My understanding is that it was a loud and violent attack,” says Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen.

The Australian Shephard had injuries to its throat and face.

“We are concerned for public safety,” says VanLeeuwen. “We have had other incidents in regards to this dog. We had two last year and this is our second one this year.”

Police say Angel is also responsible for an attack at a baseball game last year. In that incident a Chihuahua was killed.

Angel’s owner is scheduled to appear in court next month.

But police say the 24-year-old man hasn’t been co-operative.

“He’s not returning calls and not answering the door when we arrive at the home,” says VanLeeuwen.

A judge will decide next month whether the dog will need to be put down.

Brompton Park is a popular place for young families. That’s why police are warning residents to be extra cautious and call police if they see the dog.
