Perth-Wellington MP Gary Schellenberger announced Thursday that he will not stand for re-election in 2015.
“I would like to thank the people of Perth-Middlesex for first electing me in the 2003 byelection and the people of Perth-Wellington for re-electing me in four general elections,” he said in a press release.
“It has been the greatest honour and privilege to serve and represent you.”
Before the creation of the Conservative Party of Canada, Schellenberger served as a Progressive Conservative.
According to the press release, Schellenberger plans to spend more time with his family upon retirement, but will “remain an active community member” in the riding.
