A Guelph man faces charged of assaulting police and breaching his probation following an incident in the city’s downtown.

It began shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday, when Guelph Police say they were called to the Sleeman Centre to deal with a man passed out in a washroom.

After the 23-year-old man was awakened, he allegedly punched an officer before he was placed under arrest.

The officer received minor injuries to his face.
